In the coming months, PayPal is conducting a pilot regarding merchant acceptance of PayPal mobile payments via near field communication (NFC). For dealers and developers, this means select Mercury merchants will be participating in the PayPal pilot. General availability for merchants to accept PayPal mobile payments via NFC is not anticipated until mid-Q4 2015.
\nBelow you will find details for in-store acceptance of PayPal mobile payments when processing with\u00a0Mercury:<\/p>\n

Hardware:\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n

To enable PayPal mobile\u00a0payments in-store, the merchant POS device must be capable of accepting NFC payment technology.\u00a0 Many businesses have recently updated their payment terminals\u00a0in support of new EMV chip card technology.\u00a0 The vast majority of these terminals will also support NFC mobile payments.<\/p>\n

For merchants processing with Mercury,\u00a0The\u00a0General Store is set up to accept PayPal via NFC on the Verifone VX805 and the Ingenico ISC250.<\/p>\n

\u00a0No additional software:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

When processing with\u00a0Mercury, you only need to enable your NFC payment device in order to\u00a0accept PayPal mobile payments<\/p>\n

Aggregated Settlement:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

PayPal in-store transactions process like other payment card transactions, settling in aggregate with other card brands.\u00a0 Transactions appear on the merchant’s monthly statement from Mercury.<\/p>\n

Pricing:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

PayPal in-store transactions follow the same account pricing as your current Discover card transactions.\u00a0 There are no additional fees from Mercury.<\/p>\n

Merchant Notification:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

All eligible Mercury merchants have been sent a letter informing them of their ability to accept PayPal mobile payments via NFC.\u00a0 Per the letter, each merchant maintains the right to opt-out in the future.<\/p>\n
